Description

There's so much to love about Nairobi city. The energy here is infectious, a mix of fast-paced urban hustle and laid-back African charm. I love how you can be in the heart of a bustling metropolis one minute and, in less than an hour, find yourself surrounded by wildlife in Nairobi National Park. The greenery is also something special—places like Karura Forest and the Arboretum are my go-to spots for fresh air and a break from the city’s chaos. And, of course, the people make Nairobi what it is: warm, ambitious, and always full of life.

When it comes to food, I have my favourites, Nyama Choma, especially from an authentic joint like Njuguna’s or Roadhouse, would be a must-have on weekends, paired with ugali and kachumbari. For a quick snack, Smocha from a street vendor would hit the spot, especially in the evening with friends. I also love chapati and beans, a simple but comforting meal that never disappoints. And let’s not forget the fruit—mangoes, pineapples, and tree tomatoes from Marikiti Market are always be a staple in my books.

For an ideal first date, I enjoy something relaxed but memorable. A morning walk or bike ride at Karura Forest would set a great tone, followed by a long, easy lunch at a cosy spot like Talisman or Cultiva. If adventure was the goal, a game drive at Nairobi National Park would be an unforgettable experience, ending with sunset drinks at a rooftop bar like INTI or Hero. But sometimes, a simple night out with good food and live music at The Alchemist, Samaki Samaki or Geco Café would be just perfect—great vibes, laughter, and a chance to really connect.
